I always knew that I can do things spur of the moment and well pretty randomly, but never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that I would book a Thailand trip and have it all payed in the space of just 2 months and the best part of it all…it was not even part of the plan!!!
About 3 months ago, a friend of mine approached me with the idea of going to Thailand, because for some strange reason she convinced me that Thailand would be faaaaaar cheaper than booking a trip to good old Cape Town….sorry what Thailand…well I mean I have always dreamed of owning my own island and well this was as close as I am going to get to it ( for now that is). So without even thinking it was ‘’okay sure lets do this thing’’… and that’s where it all started.
This being my first overseas trip I was rather cool, calm and collected , okay well it’s cos I was travelling with a frequent traveller and she made me feel at ease. We left SA on the 18th April, all kitted out with our jersey’s and jeans and well little did we know that we would want to strip allll of our clothes off the moment we landed in Bangkok ( we had a connecting flight to Phuket)
We eventually got onto our connecting flight after waiting for what seemed like eternity…I wanna see the beach already damn it! None –the- less we got to the Phuket Airport and we had a car pick us up and take us off to our hotel. We stayed at 3 star hotel, close to the beach…and I mean close as in across the road is the beach kinda close.
We really spent majority of our time either at the beach, or lying around by the pool and well shopping at the market and the mall. Now the thing about the market is YOU HAVE to bargain with the people, every time you are trying to buy an item of some sort. If you don’t negotiate, well they will rip you off, so I also spent majority of my time bargaining for clothes at a cheaper price ( after a while it gets annoying and you just want to buy things at a price they are sold at)
On one of the days we went Island hopping and went to the Phi – Phi Islands ( one of the beaches there – Maya Beach was where the movie The Beach with Leonardo Di Caprio was shot) I HAVE NEVER SEEN such beauty and close to perfection of a dream…it’s almost like paradise.
On our second last day we went to James Bond Island , apparently it’s famous from one of the James Bond Movies…go figure.
On our last day we thought heck we can’t be in Phuket and not go and see the famous Ping Pong show ( I mean we had seen many she-males and well that was nothing new). No w the ping pong show is helluva interesting, how does a woman discover that she can shoot a ping pong ball, a banana ( without squashing it), blow a whistle, blow a blow-pipe and shoot darts , open an old school coke bottle and my most favourite, pull out 9 Minora blades and prove that they are sharp…all out of her you know what ( can’t find a word for it that’s not crude…actually as a friend said her AREA).It is beyond amazing and I just cant seem to believe it but it happened right there in front of me. I wont lie paying about R200 for a beer was well worth it and I drank the full beer…
Thailand has beautiful people, that are humble, friendly and eternally grateful for everything. South Africans could learn a thing or two from these people.
Def going to go back there soon.
Hope you enjoy and if you ever in your life get a chance to travel, do it… don’t wait to be a millionaire, it might never happen. Do it now!!!
P.S Ladies starting practising how to blow a real whistle out of your AREA. Incase your present job fails you, you could always get a job in Thailand…. I’m just suggesting the whistle, nothing else J
Will post a link to where you can look at some of the pictures, seeing as though I am too cool for Facebook.
